6th November

With a full moon in mid November, dawn (top) and early evening (bottom) migrants from Europe flood into the UK, winds permitting. Unfortunately we have an NW breeze and ideally you need one from the eastern sector. Never mind we had a couple of decent birds today.

Water Pipit: 1 flew low SW calling at 7.25am.
Water Rail: 1 was found in a channel behind the reed bed near Hanover Bridge. It was eating small frogs mid afternoon.
Redwing: 3 birds flew west.
