Tony,

Is there much warbler activity around the English/Avenue Garden area?
The Avenue Gardens have produced some good birds over the years the best being a Melodious Warbler. The western side at either end but more the northern are the places to look for migrants. All the regular UK warblers have been seen here. It is an area that we only glance at on our daily walk around the park. We do a bird survey of 5 areas of the park every other week, and this is one of the area monitored.

I'll check out the W hedge side at the N end of Avenue Garden tomorrow first thing c0630.

I have a suspicion that when areas aren't checked regularly, things don't get spotted... I'll let you know how it goes!
