Mystery Bird

A fairly quiet week, with very little of note.

Great Crested Grebe: The forth brood have hatched in area 5 and are now feeding in front of the Holme. Another pair are incubating on the other side of the island.
Little Grebe: 1 of the juveniles in area 2 was probably killed by coots.
Common Tern: The pair and another male are still present.
Black-headed Gull: Up to 35 birds have returned. Twenty years ago they used to return in the last week of July.
Little Owl: The young have been harassed by crows.
Reed Warbler: 4 males singing.
Reed Bunting: 2 males.

Hi bugboy,

Are you a new viewer to this site? It is not a Linnet but we are heading in the right direction.

hmmm, there is the mearest hint of a dark wing on the left of the bird: juvenile goldfinch?

I'm not a new viewer but only just signed up, and we have met! I work at the zoo and was taking pictures of damselflies a few weeks ago in your marshy area. (ooh eeer!) My name in the real world is paul.
Hi Paul.

You are right on the money. Sorry there is no prize, but it dose challenge you when a bird is seen from a different angle.
