View from Long Bridge
Common Tern displaying.
Common Tern male(top) and female(below).
Nuthatch: The bird is still present in area 29.
Reed Bunting: A pair feeding in area 26 in the long grass and wild flower patches.
Goldfinch: 7 juveniles in area 34.
Common Tern: 3 birds still present. The pair showed really well fishing close to the bridge, perching on the small fence that separates the collection waterfowl from the main lake in area 26.
Sparrowhawk: A male flew through the rose gardens at 8.00am. This is one of a very few recent sightings. If anyone should see any I would appreciate a message being left in the comments section.

Cuckoo! In area 29 at 1.30pm. Very good views (best I've ever had). Seen for 6-7 minutes. Perching on three different trees. Very still while perched. Possible juvenile (?): barring up to head. Quite dark all over. Then flew further in and impossible to see. (No sign of nuthatch).
I never cease to be amazed at what is seen in that inner city wild life haven of yours. I was on the last LNHS walk you did in the Park and I know that all of us who attended went home very happy bunnies indeed.
However the one thing that caused us great concern was the proposal to build astro-turf football pitches complete with floodlighting, right in the middle of the sole Tawny Owl territory.
Is there any more news about this worrying development ?
Thanks, Graham
