Mandarins are back to their ornate best
The last few days have been very quiet, with very little visible migration. The birds that have been seen have been flying at very high altitudes.
Little Owl: 1 was calling from area 21 at 3.10am on 12th.
Tawny Owl: Birds were calling from areas 1 and 14 around 6.20am 12th.
Fieldfare: small numbers were seen 12th, 13th and 14th.
Redwing: slightly larger numbers than the above but totaling under 100 birds.
Chaffinch: small parties have headed north most mornings.
Siskin: 1 over the nature study centre, area 1 on the 12th.
Yellow-legged Gull: 1ad was on the lake 12th until a boat race scared it off.
Chiffchaff: A handful of birds are still present normally in areas 7 and 26.
