Another shower rushes through this afternoon
An unusual bird in a bush
Common/Mew Gull, there are still plenty of gulls in the park, they should soon be off to their breeding grounds. The majority will have normally departed by the 22/3.



Still fairly quiet, with not a lot to mention apart from the regulars.

Redwing: Six birds flew over the Zoo heading north.
Siskin: One was in area 24 this afternoon.
Goldfinch: A total of twenty two birds were in areas 1, 24, 26 and 31.
Goldcrest: Males were singing in areas 7, 13, 16 and 24.

I thought you might be interested to know that there was a female stonechat on brambles in the plantation today at around 4.30pm.

Yes, I did not realise how scarce they were in the park until I checked out your 2006 Bird Report. Hopefully, the habitat improvements in the park, such as the areas of rough grass/scrub etc will result in more sightings of this bird when passing through!
