7th March

I didn't have time to bird the park today as my wife needed some retail therapy. I did get a phone call from Dave to say that he had found an owlet in area 11. When I got there the bird was high up in a tree. Then a couple of Magpies arrived in a nearby tree, we scared them off, in doing so we found a recently killed owlet. The Magpies were soon back, they landed in a lower part of the tree and to our suprise there was another owlet. We knew that living this bird here which was smaller than the bird high up in the canopy, would certainly be sentencing it to a premature death. I went off to fetch a ladder and we relocated the bird high up in a conifer tree. Fingers crossed it will be alright.
