A fairly quiet couple of days.
Yesterday
Peregrine Falcon: a male caught a House Martin over the lake at 7.40am.
Yellow-legged Gull: our regular adult was on a post on the lake.
Common Tern: our first bird of the year flew low through the Longbridge Sanctuary at 10.00am.
Today
Sparrowhawk: a male was hunting in area 31.
Herring Gull: three pairs are nesting on Heron Island, area 8. One pair has at least one recently hatched chick.
Common Tern: one was looking for fish at 7.25am. It dived in trying to catch some fairly recently hatched fry.
Swift: 55 birds were flying low over the trees looking for insects until 10.00am.
Lesser Whitethroat: one was singing and seen briefly in area 31 until the Sparrowhawk shot through.
Reed Warbler: the seventh singing male was near the viewing platform in area 34.
