We arrived in the park this morning hoping for a few of the migrants that landed on the east coast yesterday to have drifted our way overnight. We were a little disappointed that nothing major had arrived or if it had we couldn’t find it.
Lapwing: one circled high over the park at around 8.30am. It then looked to come down on the open spaces but was put off by the number of dogs and dog walkers. It headed off in the direction of Brent Res.
Swift: six birds were high over the park mid morning.
Reed Warbler: two fairly recently fledged young were in the Wetland Pen.
Common Whitethroat: The only new bird was found feeding in the Gorse patch near area 34.
Chiffchaff and Willow Warbler: Birds were in several areas in small numbers with the most being seen in area 10.

It’s Holiday time
I am off to visit Menorca for nine days, my first time on the island. If you see anything in the park, please leave a note in the comments section.
If Sunday 29th August is dry I will be doing a bird walk starting from the Nature Study Centre at 8.00am sharp. You can just turn up no booking required, though giving me a clue on numbers might help me.

The bird in the picture is a beautiful European Bee-eater. I took this photo several years ago in the Algarve in southern Portugal. It is one of my favourite photos. I will be uploading my recent holiday photos to me web gallery in the next day or so, included are a few Bee-eater shots.
