The first day of winter and the shortest day of the year brought a slight thaw. Unfortunately I missed a flock of White-fronted Geese that flew towards the park, having headed east over Wormwood Scrubs at 9.00am. Bird life in the park was much the same as it has been for a while.
European Wigeon: the female was still present with the ducks on the lake by area 2.
Common Teal: a pair present.
Water Rail: Both birds showed well for much of the morning.
The chase is on, the bird present since mid October doesn’t want to share his food with the second bird.
