This Little Grebe chick was picked up by a member of public and handed in to one of the eateries. It had been pecked by something possibly a Coot, but wasn’t damaged at all. Having seen a Little Grebe with a chick this morning, that was being pestered by a Coot I returned to that area and waited until an adult appeared. The chick was calling so I put it in amongst the vegetation at the edge of the lake behind the fence that protects a recently extended reed bed. The parent eventually dived under the fence and bonded with the chick again.
