13th January

Things in the park are still pretty quiet.

Common Teal: 3 birds were on the Wetland Scrape, area 32.

Fieldfare: 26 flew over.

Redwing: at least 10 flew over.

Bushy Park

Common Teal: 5 birds were on a pool in the Brewhouse Field.

Kingfisher: one flew along the Longford River.

Redwing: 36 are feeding in a Holly by White Lodge>

Siskin: The odd bird was seen flying over the Woodland Gardens.

I am off to Norfolk for the day tomorrow for some birding with some friends. Hopefully the weather will be kind and we will have a bright crisp day.

Dear Tony,
I always love reading your blog but have never left a comment successfully.
I am shocked by your recent news and having read the thoughts of earlier writers, I concur except you have not left your post it has left you. Why do accountants see only cash flow without appreciating the bigger picture?
Thank you so much for opening our eyes to the natural wonders on our doorsteps. You have shown how vital London parks are for wildlife and long may your efforts remain.
I hope that we can still see you sometimes in Regent’s Park or maybe visit you at Richmond.
Meanwhile a very Happy New Year to you and a continuing big thank you from me.
Hi Michael.

Thanks for the very kind words, it is a pleasure being able to let others know what can be seen in such an urban environment. I intend to be out in the park early mornings at the weekend once the light allows.
