Regent’s Park

A quick pre-breakfast, pre rain walk saw a few more migrants present alongside remaining winter visitors.

Smew: the 1st winter drake was by area 8.

Common Teal: 6 teal were lipping on the edge of area 8.

Sparrowhawk: a male was hunting birds at the feeding station in the Leaf Yard Wood.

Little Owl: one was perched on the edge of a whole in a Plane Tree in area 25.

Redwwing: 12 landed perched in area 25.

Chiffchaff: 5 birds were singing around the park, with 2 in area 40.

Blackcap: one was singing in Queen Mary’s near the Open Air Theatre and another was in area 42.

18 Mar: Clear skies and light W breeze this morning after 24 hours of the first significant rainfall in weeks. No new migrants observed but several Chiffchaffs heard before 08.00: areas 1 (Winfield House grounds), 2, 10 (N corner of Regent's College), 14, 17, 20, 32 and 40.
