Regent’s Park

Waterfowl numbers were much the same as the day before. Well done Birdman-Euston for counting them yesterday. Mandarin and RC Pochard numbers were both in  the 60’s.

Water Rail: Having had a a couple of reports of more than one bird present I spent sometime at the NW end of the lake. Within 30 minutes I had seen two birds in the rail ditch area and heard what sounded like 2 more in area 5.

Fieldfare: 50 were on Gloucester Green this morning.

Redwing: 25 were present with the above. They all moved off to the Little Owl area at 8.45am.

Blackcap: a pair in area 3.

Goldcrest: 6 birds in areas where Firecrests have been recorded.

Grey Herons are now taking up nest sites. Hopefully they have evicted any Egyptian Geese that had hoped to breed in the nests.
