Bushy Park
A red letter day and a pleasant surprise on a chilly morning.
Garganey: a drake was on the scrape and viewable from Dukes Head Passage and had been present yesterday.
Snipe: one was also present on the scrape first thing.
Peregrine: a high flying male appeared to be on a mission as it headed west.
Sparrowhawk: a pair were displaying over the paddocks.
Common Buzzard: our bird is still present.
Fieldfare: 11 were in the Brew House Fields area.
Redwing: at least 80 were still in the park, mainly along Chestnut Avenue.
Chiffchaff: six were along the Longford River, one or two were singing.
Lesser Redpoll: 6 were just north of Dukes Head Passage, feeding in Oaks.
Siskin: 28 were in the Woodland Gardens.
V = Viewing spot where the vegetation on the opposite bank of the Longford River has been cut to allow the public to view the scrape.
The Long-tailed Tits nest is nearing completion
