Red crested Pochard: one pair have managed to keep 4 youngsters out of the reach of the large gulls.

Common Tern: a pair were on the lake at 6.30am another pair was seen later.

Swift: 16 were over the lake.

House Martin: at least 6 were over the lake.

Swallow: two birds fed low over the lake at 7.30am.

Reed Warbler: 4 birds were singing from the reed beds.

Blackcap: 8 males were heard singing.

Common Whitethroat: one still present in area 40.

Willow Warbler: one was singing in the Wildlife Garden.

Chiffchaff: 5 birds were singing.

Jackdaw: 4 flew NE at 8.00am.

Several pairs of LBB Gulls are now breeding with the Herring Gulls on Heron Island.

The female Lesser spotted Woodpecker was drumming in the Round Plantation again on Friday.

In recent weeks I have seen several very high flying Jays heading east.

1♂ Mallard x 'Aythya' hybrid (first noticed last winter), 4 Great Crested Grebe (new, 2nd nest site under overhanging dogwood on W shore Bandstand Is area 7 - 1st site on SE shore Heron Is a.8 is still active), 2 Common Tern, 5 Swift, pr Mistle Thrush mating & building nest in ornamental maple at S end Cumberland Green a.24, 1 Spotted Flycatcher Community Gdn a.14 behind water-cascade 1025 - absent from yesterday's loc'n (a.34) 0630, ♂ Grey Wagtail gathering food at Holme Green shoreline a.9 before flying toward Baker St.
