21st August

Regent’s Park

Possibly slightly fewer phyloscs, which unfortunately means there was no sign of the Wood Warbler. It could be present and someone could get lucky.

Pied Flycatcher: three singles present in area 1 just inside the American Ambassadors Residence, another in area 33 still and one that bathed just behind the brambles in area 41. It was flitting around in the willows there.

Spotted Flycatcher: three present one in area 1, at one time it was with the above. There were 2 others in area 41 feeding from the top of a dead Elderberry.

Garden Warbler: 2 in area 31 again.

Willow Warbler & Chiffchaff: birds still at the NE end of the lake.

Bushy Park

Common Buzzard: one seen several times in the Brewhouse Meadow area.

Hobby: a couple were seen perched early this morning.

Common Whitethroat: 4 in scrub at the park end of Dukes Head Passage.

Blackcap: 12 present.

Chiffchaff: 16 present on the western side of the park.

Willow Warbler: 8 in the scrubland area.

The male from area 32 is still going through his moult so tends to hide away. Here you can see that he still hasn’t grown all his tail feathers.
