Clear skies overnight had allowed lots of migrants to get on their way.
Common Sandpiper: one was touring the main lakes islands early this morning.
Garden Warbler: one in the Wetland Pen, area 32.
Common Whitethroat: two in the Cricket Pen, area 31.
Blackcap, Willow Warbler and Blackcap: present but in lower numbers.
Clouded Yellow Butterfly: one flew over the rough grassland in area 36.
Aesculapian Snake: the one in my garden showed this afternoon.
Bushy Park
Red crested Pochard: 24 on Heron Pond.
Common Buzzard: the one in the Brew House was keeping a low profile this morning. A migrant flew west at 1.20pm.
Hobby: seen over the Brew House Meadows at lunchtime.
Kestrel: 3 in the Brew House area.
Sparrowhawk: a male in a conifer in the garden at Hawthorn Cottage. A female was flushed from a tree in the Brew House by a Kestrel.
Reed Warbler: 6 present, 4 in the Brew House reed beds and 2 in the Bracken by Hawthorn Cottage.
Common Whitethroat: 20 plus around the park.
Lesser Whitethroat: one by Hawthorn Cottage.
Chiffchaff: 18+ present.
Willow Warbler: 6 near Hawthorn Cottage.
Can you identify these?
Mandarins can be seen in one’s and two’s. This one was on the channel just north of The Boating Lake.
Passage bird, the resident one is still going through his moult.
There are good numbers of Migrant Hawkers around the park.
