Here are a few 2013 highlights that I managed to capture on camera.
These 2 Bearded Tits were present in Hyde Park from November until mid February. News of their presence didn’t get out until early January. They delighted an almost constant stream of birders and tourists during their time there.
This is me enjoying the Snow Buntings at Salthouse.
This Pale-bellied Brent Goose was in the Eye-field
I was delighted when the Hyde Park Reedlings chose to drop off in Regent’s Park for 2 days on their way back to their breeding grounds.
The photos below are from several spring trips to Norfolk.
We stopped of at Lakenheath one afternoon not knowing this beautiful Red-footed Falcon was present.
I happened to be at Cley NNT early one morning when I noticed 2 birders spending what I thought was to long looking over the reeds. I popped around I was rewarded with distant but good enough through a scope views of a White-spotted Bluethroat. As the crowds began to arrive I moved off along the East Bank and had superb views of an Osprey as it passed overhead.
In early August my wife and daughter had a week near Aviemore. I saw most of the specialties of the Highlands but still need Capercaillie.
Watching Slavonian Grebes on the Lochan by our cottage was the highlight of the trip.
Back down south and Norfolk again.
Yes it’s me again, this time from my accommodation on the Isles of Scilly.
Unfortunately this Spotted Crake didn’t come out far enough for a decent photo.
After the Scillies it’s a week at home and then back to Cornwall for a week. The weather was fairly stormy and not the kind of holiday for coastal walks.
Our last trip out was Norfolk and it’s Parrot Crossbills, Hawfinches and its usual winter visitors.
