Bushy Park

I had a lunchtime walk around the Brewhouse Meadow at lunchtime. The Longford River has over-flowed and flooded areas of the meadows, attracting a good range of birds.

Common Buzzard: the regular bird flew into the wood nearest the Water Gardens.

Sparrowhawk: a male caused everything to panic.

Common Teal: 8 birds were on one of the floods.

Gadwall: 10 were feeding on the edge of the wood, where it was flooded.

Mandarin: 12 birds were feeding in an over-flowing ditch.

Wood Pigeon: 400+ were feeding on the ground in the meadow.

Great spotted Woodpecker: there were some territorial squabbles going on and 2 males were drumming.

Pied Wagtail: 6 were feeding on the edge of the floods.

Meadow Pipit: 2 flew west.

Redwing: 36 were widely scattered, a small group were trying to feed on Holly berries along Dukes Head Passage.

Reed Bunting: a male was feeding in one section of reeds.
