With a clear sunny skies predicted for today the lure of a long staying Red-flanked Bluetail in southern Gloucestershire proved to tempting especially as I had had a poor nights sleep and was wide awake at 5.00am. A quick breakfast and I was out of the house by 5.35am and the first birder on site at Shire Hill Farm at 7.35am. The clear cloudless skies meant that the light was good enough to hopefully see the bird. Within 15 minutes another 4 birders had arrived. The bird soon showed itself in it’s favoured location, attracted to meal worms that are being put out. I stayed for almost an hour, leaving just after the bird had moved away and before to many birders were on the seen.
Then back home to Regent’s Park
A very high flying Sparrowhawk
This is a 1st for me, I have never seen a Stock Dove on a post in the lake.
