Richmond Park
I had to meet up with the Gamekeepers this morning, which gave me a chance to call in at Pen Ponds. Waterfowl numbers are still dropping and nothing unusual was on show.
Grey Heron: the lower earlier nest has 3 chicks.
Great crested Grebe: three were present on Upper Pen Ponds, though it soon dropped down to 2 when the resident male chased the other bird on to the lower pond.
Siskin: 4 flew over Pen Ponds Plantation.
Lesser Redpoll: 2 flew over Thatched Lodge.
Reed Bunting: several were singing nearby.
Bushy Park
Lesser spotted Woodpecker: the female was in the Woodland Gardens close to Dukes Head Passage. I was unfortunately on the other side of the river and could only watch her in the distance.
Redwing: still around 20 still present.
Chiffchaff: 2 still along the western boundary.
