Regent’s Park
Common Buzzard: one flew north at 11.00am.
Woodcock: one flew from the Holme, area 10 and then low past the Bandstand at 8.00am.
Lesser spotted Woodpecker: a female was calling from the Bandstand Island at 8.30am. It took me a while to locate her for her to immediately fly off across the lake northward having been spooked by 5 inquisitive parakeets.
Blackcap: males singing in areas 11 and 34.
Chiffchaff: one in area 41.
16 pairs are nesting at present, while other birds look for sites to construct a nest.
From behind you can see patterning on the wings that probably wards off predators.
male Little Grebe looking to breed at the end of the lake in area 34.
