10th April

Richmond Park

I spent most of the morning here today surveying Sidmouth Wood and Pen Ponds Plantation. Migrants seemed fairly thin on the ground in these areas apart from;

Great crested Grebe: a pair and 2 males, one on the lower pond.

Wigeon: one drake still on Upper Pen Pond.

Rook: one flew NE at 10.45am.

Willow Warbler: one in Pen Ponds Plantation.

I called into Regent’s Park on the way home to see how the grebe family were progressing, unfortunately they have lost one chick.

It looks as if this chick will not last much longer if it keeps receiving this kind of treatment from his siblings.
