29th May

The mild winter must have been good for Great crested Grebes. The 3 parks that I visit regularly have pairs present this year. Regent’s Parks grebes have suffered in recent years but so far this year there are five pairs. Richmond Park is recent years has only had one pair today there were 3 pairs. The lakes in Bushy Park are not really grebe friendly but the pair that turned up last week have started building a nest.
