Bushy Park

I managed to spend 30 minutes looking into the area of scrub just north of the gate into the park from Dukes Head Passage this morning.

Common Buzzard: 3 birds were mewing from different trees 80 metres north of Dukes Head Passage. In my humble opinion I wouldn’t have expected an adult to be so vocal. They eventually headed west in the Brewhouse Meadow. At 11.30 one was calling high over the Pheasantry Car Park, before slowly heading back westwards.

Swallow: second broods were on the wing around the stables this morning.

Reed Warbler: one was feeding in a sallow close to the locked gate and at least 6 more were in a reed beds around the pools.

Common Whitethroat: 9 in the area of scrub.

Blackcap: 11 in the scrub area.

Chiffchaff: 6 also in the same area.
