Bushy Park
A brief visit early morning (6.15am) along the western boundary north of Dukes Head Passage.
Common Buzzard: several birds were calling but not seen.
Hobby: a female suddenly appeared from an Oak, grabbed a dragonfly and disappeared again.
Common Whitethroat: 5 present.
Blackcap: 6 present.
Willow Warbler: 6 present.
Chiffchaff: 8 present.
Richmond Park
A quick walk around the paddocks and trees by Holly Lodge produced a few warblers but not as many as yesterday.
Common Tern: pair still present on Pen Ponds.
Swift: 3 flew west.
Common Whitethroat: 4 by the riding ring.
Blackcap: 6 feeding on blackberries.
Willow Warbler: 5 present.
Chiffchaff: 8 present.
Goldfinch: 18 present.
A Great Tit feeds from an Oak Processionary Moth nest.
This Tufted Duck has adopted a Pochard duckling or what more than likely has happened is a Pochard laid an egg in her nest.
Regent’s Park
Last stop before going home.
Spotted Flycatcher: 2 singles, 1 in area 31 and another in area 33 (seen from gate by bridge).
Reed Warbler: 4 in the Wetland Pen, area 32.
Lesser Whitethroat: one feeding on berries in area 33 (goose grazing pen), sometimes feeding on blackberries along the fence line. He was present yesterday afternoon but more elusive.
Common Whitethroat: 2 in the Cricket Pen, area 31.
Willow Warbler: 6 birds in area 31 & 32.
Chiffchaff: 8 in the same locations as the Willow Warblers.
