Pictorial of early May highlights in Regent's Park
The first 9 days of May were pretty quiet with the only obvious arrivals or movement's involving Swifts, Swallows, House Martins and a handful of Sand Martins. It was the 10th when we finally saw three goodies; Northern Wheatear, Whinchat and 2 Spotted Flycatchers. The White Wagtail male is still present in area 9 but can be reluctant to show himself.
The above two photos of the Great spotted Woodpecker parents visiting the nest were taken on the 10th when they were able to enter the nest, 5 days later (pictures below) the young are coming to the entrance hole.
