You never know. They seemed quite happy, sometimes they popped down as if they were feeding on the ground.

So the south (garden) part of Broad Walk and areas 10 and 11? I'll run round there today to have a peek... Probably later in the afternoon after many people have left...

Couldn't find the little owls, but to my great surprise I saw a woodcock at area 24 at 4:30p.m. I initially saw it flying around. It landed on the grass and then I flushed it and it flew off again. How often are these seen in the park?

Woodcocks are an annual visitor to the park. Normally only seen when flushed, though earlier this year I kept on seeing one in Queen Mary's before dawn. They are probably around more than we know. It is just that they come out to feed at dusk when very few people especially birders are in the park.I know that at Titchwell in Norfolk there are quitev a few seen flying off to feed at dusk.
