Goldfinch: possibly 16 birds present 7 in area 24 and 9 in garden by St Marks Bridge viewed from canal towpath, area 31.
Stock Dove: 16 in garden by bridge area 31.
Ring-necked Parakeet: 1 in trees area 24 at 9.30am.
Kestrel: male feeding on worms in area 25, later seen on roof of St Johns Lodge.
Great Spotted Woodpecker: 2 males drumming in areas 25 and 26. Posted by Picasa

Hi Tony,

Just to say, I've been to the zoo a few times recently and seen a (ringed) little egret among the herons poaching fish in the penguin pool and pelican area. I suppose this is a zoo animal? In this day and age though, you never know... Also saw kestrel chasing starlings at head height near butterfly blow-up thing. Also a pair of green woodpeckers in tall trees in area 20 (last week).
