Kestrel male in area 25.
Northern Wheatear my first of the year in the park.

We had a reasonable lunchtime skywatching from the middle of the open spaces, though the breeze was a little fresh.


Common Buzzard: 1 flew very high NW at 12.55pm.
Peregrine Falcon: 1 flew high east at 12.25pm.
Sparrowhawk: 2 high flying birds at 12.10pm and 12.40pm.
Swift: The first of the year flew east at 8.15am.
House Martin: 2 birds again over the lake throughout the day.
Swallow: 20 birds flew through.
Chiffchaff: 4 birds were singing from areas 1, 14, 19 and 29.
Tree Pipit: 1 flew north at 12.30pm.
Meadow Pipit: 4 birds flew north.
Siskin: 4 birds north at 4.50pm.
Linnet: 1 flew north.
Pied Wagtail: 2 birds flew north.

2 Chiffchaffs and 1 Willow Warbler seen singing in mature trees at N part of Area 29.

Chiffchaffs also heard around feeding station Area 29 (3), Park works yard (1), Winfield House (3), hannover Bridge (1).

Willow Warblers heard at feeding station Area 29 (1), Winfield House (2).

Blackcap skulking in scrub Area 29.

Looking at other websites, the Willow Warbler "invasion" started in the middle of last week...
