6th April

These photos were taken in the Chilterns, but mirror the views I had today in the park.

Red Kite: 1 flew in low from the SW at 8.55am, it was soon mobbed by a crow. It then began to circle to gain height, drifting back towards the south west. It then slowly came back towards the park, before I lost it as it headed off to the north west at 9.05am. Whether or not it was the same bird at around 10.00am a Red Kite flew SW over The Wetland Centre.
Reed Bunting: The female was in area 2 at 9.10am.
Linnet: 1 flew N at 11.25am.
Meadow Pipit: 5 birds flew N.
Siskin: 3 flew N at 8.20am.
Pied Wagtail: 1 flew SW.
Sparrowhawk: 2 males flew high north at 3.20pm.
Great Crested Grebe: The bird that was nesting on the side of the island in area 5, is possibly carrying three young.
Chiffchaff: 1 in area 29.
Blackcap: 1 new male was singing in area 8.
Jackdaw: 1 flew NW at 9.20am.

Tuesday 10 April. Two male blackcaps in Area 29 at lunchtime, plus chiffchaff singing.
Cheers Debbie.

I have been in Norfolk for three days. Fairly quiet on the migrant front.
