3rd August

The first misty morning of the autumn, partly caused by vandals setting fire to some straw bales.
Brimstone Moth
Common Darter in the wetland area.

Willow Warbler: 2 with the tit flock in area 25.
Chiffchaff: 3 with the above flock in area 25.
Blackcap: 10, three in area 25 and 7 in area 29.
Common Tern: 1 over the lake.
Egyptian Goose: 5 on the the lake.
Swifts: There seems to have been a major departure of birds in the area. Unless they are enjoying flying at high altitude, for the first time in ages.

The first misty morning of the autumn? Are you one of those people who consider autumn to begin in August? What happened to summer??
We missed it. The seasons as well as the birds are earlier than usual.
