Female with one youngster taking a peep, at least one other was also on her back.

The male was having a laugh if he thought one the chicks would have attempted a fish of this size. Just as well the female was hungry.

The male Common Tern has just presented his mate with a Stickleback. Could this be the year that they breed in the park. I doubt it as they have not shown any interest in the tern raft.


The male seems very proud of his fishing skills.

Young Long-tailed Tits thinking about taking a bath at the bird drinking whole in area 25.




Common Tern: The pair were present again, until two many boats were brought in two be hired out.
Yellow-legged Gull: The adult was on a post in the lake at 8.00am.
Great crested Grebe: The pair nesting opposite the Bandstand have hatched their young at the second attempt. The first nest was destroyed possibly by a rowing boat.
Great spotted Woodpecker: Four pairs with young were noted in areas 12, 20, 24 and 29.
