The Common Whitethroats seem to have upped the size of the insects that they are bringing to the nest.

Marbled White Butterfly: this is only the second park record of this species. It was present in the Wetland Pen, area 32 and would sometimes hop over the hedge and into the nearby area. It seldom settled for more than a few seconds.

Fantastic shots! Last Wednesday we saw what looked like a Monarch butterfly by the path to the east of the zoo. Has anyone seen similar and was this just an escapee?

I saw a marbled white in the vet dept garden last year in the zoo, didn't realise they were so rare in the park though.

Hi Tony, Saw the whitethroat. My first one! Thanks for the tip on its exact whereabouts.
Hi Chris.

It probably came from the Butterfly tent that is situated just inside the eastern boundary.

Tony
Hi Spoonbillz.

I think the nearest colony to the park is Brent Reservoir unless they have some on the heath.

Tony
Hi Gavin.

I am glad that you saw them, it is always nice to see a new species.
