Dear Tony

I visited the park yesterday morning to look for the Water Rail. However, I wasn't sure exactly where to look and didn't find it. I could not find the feeding platform either.

I intend on going back early/middle of this week and am wondering whether you can advise exactly where I need to go please?

Cheers

Hi Kev.
If you click on the link to the map you will see it covered in numbers. These numbers refer to areas that the birds can be found. The rail is in area 2, viewed by standing on or very close to the lefthand blue bridge. If you stand by the wooden post, then look down the area of cut reeds. The feeding station is at the far end, but the rail can be seen anywhere along the channel.

Good hunting

Hi Tony

Thanks for the directions, I went down there earlier this week first thing in the morning.
Unfortunately the Water Rail did not make an appearance, but I did meet Dave and had an enjoyable chat with him.

I will head back down to the park early next week to make another attempt to see the rail

I'm not sure if you are interested in sightings in the other parks, however, there was a Kingfisher in St James Park this lunchtime. It was on the island at the end of the lake nearest Whitehall. I wasn't actually looking for anything at the time so was quite startled to se a flash of electric blue and orange. I often go for a walk in St James Park as I work nearby and have never before seen a Kingfisher there.

I hope you are having an enjoyable trip.

Cheers

Hi Kev.

I am just back from Cornwall and will update this site tomorrow. That is once I have seen what I missed last week.

I am always interested in knowing what has been seen at the other Royal Parks or anywhere in London particularly Central London.

If you are around next week particularly between 7.00am and 7.40am around area 2, then there is a good chance we might meet.

Cheers

Tony
