The gull colony on area 8 has increased from 3 pairs last year to 5 this. The eggs and chicks area quite attractive and were only disturbed briefly while I checked to see if any species of waterfowl from the collection were nesting nearby.

Male Common Whitethroat in the Wetland Pen, area 32. Today 2 males were heard singing at the same time in slightly different areas of area 31.

The female is still feeding her brood without any help, though she did behave like a naughty school boy when she caught a Crane Fly and then pulled all his legs off before taking it to the nest.

Broods of Long-tailed tits can be now heard around the park, so it looks as if they have done fairly well after the cold spell at the end of last year.

It is however a problem when you have a long tail and the wind is as strong as it has been.

Great pictures as ever, Tony. Whereabouts in the park are you seeing the little owl? I'd love to see it! best wishes - Michael
Hi Michael.
The owls are in area 25, but it important not to draw attention to that fact incase they are disturbed. So watch at a distance and morning is best.

cheers
