The Kestrels became very agitated when another male came into their territory. It was circling very high over the Open Spaces before drifting off towards Primrose Hill. I wonder if the pair have also returned to there?

This is a bit selfish I know but I do love it when the weather is a bit milder, there's a bit of rain around and I have the woodland garden more or less to myself. The rain didn't stop the singers and I passed a lot of song thrush, blackbird & robin singing their hearts out. A cracking view of a lovely Chiffchaff, a couple of Jay's around too. Buzzard landing in a tree in the brewhouse fields set the crows off. No sign yet of any swallows, I'm sure it won't be too long.

Haven't seen the kingfishers for a while either, is all OK on that front?

14 Apr:
3 Kestrel Barrow Hill Reservoir area 48 at 06:10 (as sunrise approached, ♀ of pair tumbled out of NW nest-box fighting talon-to-talon with 2nd ♀ before driving her off and then mating with ♂ - all in a morning's work!), 1 Woodcock area 40 as yesterday, Goldcrest lining nest in tall cedar next to Cow & Coffee Bean a.23, 3 House Martin N 10:25, 9 Swallow N (mainly singles every 10 min or so till 14:00), Mistle Thrush carrying food to a.43 nest I found on 6 Mar, stunning ♂ Common Redstart in Leaf Yard Wood a.41 (R side of clearing to R of feeder) 14:45, 3 Chiffchaff (a. 1/2/18), 2 Willow Warbler (a. 2/41), 3 Blackcap (a. 22/39/40).
I am expecting to go to work and find the first Swallows back in the stable area. As for the Kingfishers, I haven't seen the female in the Brew House fields area for a couple of weeks. The worrying thing is that I haven't seen the male at all this year.
