17th March

Regent’s Park

I spent today working at home as I had several maintenance men visiting to look at this and that in my lodge. I did pop over to the park at lunchtime but nothing much had changed since yesterday.

Heron: 4 nests have young in them, 3 on area 8.

Shelduck: A pair and a male circled the lake before dropping down into area 35.

Shoveler: 17 were on or close to area 8.

Gadwall: 3 pairs were also present.

Sparrowhawk: 3m and 2f in the sky at 1.30pm.

Kestrel: 1p and another male over Quee Mary’s Gardens.

Great Black-backed Gull: an adult flew west at 2.00pm.

Blackcap: 2 males near the Bandstand.

Chiffchaff: 2 birds singing in the same areas as above.

Goldcrest: 2 pairs, one in area 10 and the other in area

11.
