Kensington Gardens

Scaup: the 1st winter drake is still on the Round Pond in Kensington Gardens.

Work has also commenced on the creation of a shingle island just in front of the Henry Moore sculpture. This will be a place where birds can rest up without being disturbed. It may even hold Common Sandpipers for a day or so. There is also the outside chance that Common Terns may use it to breed on. If they don’t like that then they may prefer the tern raft that arrived today and will be located as indicated on the photo below.
