5th March

Regent’s Park

It was fairly quiet in the parks today, the only thing I have to report comes from my garden.

Stock Dove: 28 came to feed after I put some food out at lunchtime. The photos below were taken before the flock arrived.

Judging by the amount of time these Long-tailed Tits spend in my garden they must be thinking of building a nest nearby, if they haven’t already done so.

As the forecast was for the cloud to break up a bit late afternoon I thought I would pop down to Christmas Common before the the traffic got to bad. It only took me 40 mins, and it was well worth the visit. Last year I didn’t get the chance to have my fix of Red Kite’s. This species is one of my favourites, probably because the first one that I saw was back in the late 60’s when they were really scarce and you needed to go to mid-Wales to see the handful of birds that were left. Today’s birders are spoilt thanks to the re-introduction of this species in several areas.
