4 days in Norfolk

25th to 28th February in Norfolk

I've just had a great 4 days birding with 3 good friends (Mark, Clive and Glen) in Norfolk. The weather was fairly kind to us if a little chilly. I managed to see a total of 121 species of birds which isn't bad considering we weren't rushing about.

The highlights were:
Red-necked  Grebe, Great white Egret, 6 Spoonbills, 70 White-fronted Geese, Goosander (sea), 1m & 1f Hen Harrier, Merlin, Woodlark, 4 Water Pipits, 3 Dartford Warblers, 5 Marsh Tits, 5 Bramblings, 17 Twite, 60 Snow Buntings and 8 Lapland Buntings.

Below are some photos from the trip most by me but some by our paparazzi member Glen.

The area just south of Titchwell is great for Yellowhammers and Hare's

Dartford Warblers are relatively new to the heathlands of Norfolk

Distant Spoonbills and a Buzzard that may fool some into thinking it is a Rough-legged Buzzard.

We went to my local beach and came upon a couple of guys ringing the Snow Buntings

From here we headed to Lynford Arboretum and these nice Marsh Tits
