I had a wander around the lake to see how many Reed Warbler males were possibly holding territories. There were at least 6 around the main lake and although I didn’t hear it, there is a bird in the reed bed on the lake in Queen Mary’s Gardens. That reed bed was only constructed in 2012 and has taken along time to establish.
I have attached videos of Reed and Sedge Warblers singing just in case you are not always sure what bird is singing from the deep in the cover of a reed bed.
Grey Heron taking enjoying some early morning sun.
Stock Dove picking off seeds as they drop from the feeder above.
Families of Starling were picking through the piles of rubbish that accumulate during Bank Holiday Weekends if the weather is reasonable.
4 Jackdaws were also ripping open bags in search of some food scraps.
This Great spotted Woodpecker has a more healthy diet on his mind, a nearby peanut feeder.
