30th March

Regent’s Park

Collared Dove: at least one present in area 14.

Blackcap: 10 singing males.

Chiffchaff: 8 birds singing.

Linnet: the first of the year, flew through.

Lesser Redpoll: two flew over.

Reed Bunting: one male in area 2, and another male with possibly a female in area 32.

Bushy Park:

Little Egret: one flew high west at 8.00am.

Common Buzzard: the regular bird went up really high, I hoped he would attract another raptor, no such luck.

Fieldfare: three were feeding in the paddocks close to Dukes Head Passage.

Redwing: eleven flew north-east.

Blackcap: five males singing in the western side of the park.

Chiffchaff: eight birds singing.

Siskin: one flew west.

Linnet: one was having a drink near Bartons Cottage.

Regent’s Park

No change apart from;

Common Shelduck:possibly four fully-winged birds present.

Bushy Park

Common Shelduck: a pair flew west over the paddocks.

Lesser Spotted Woodpecker: the male was drumming in the Round Plantation.

Fieldfare: one was calling from the top of an Oak alongside the Dukes Head Passage.

Blackcap: three males singing.

Chiffchaff: six birds singing on the western side of the park.

Again very little change in both parks, the only birds out of the ordinary were;

Regent’s Park

Collared Dove: a pair seemed to have taken up residents in the Wetland Pen area.

Bushy Park

Common Shelduck: a pair seemed to be looking for a nest site.

Collared Dove: a pair were present in the paddocks.

I had to undertake some work on the way home for The London Peregrine Partnership, this gave me a chance to catch up with this majestic falcon.

Regent’s Park;

Little Grebe: 4.5 pairs present.

Common Shelduck: pair on area 8.

Blackcap: six birds seen, including 1 female.

Chiffchaff: 5 singers widely scattered about the park.

Bushy Park:

Not a lot to report apart from 2 more Blackcaps and Chiffchaffs heard.

Lesser Spotted Woodpecker: the male was drumming for long periods in the Woodland Gardens from 7.15am until 7.45am.

Reed Bunting: 2 pairs in the Brew House Fields area.

Northern Wheatear: one flew west at 7.35am.

Chiffchaff: 7 birds singing.

Blackcap: 3 males singing.

Reed Bunting: male singing from area 1.
